AIPAC's top-funded candidate in the country, George Latimer, obediently supported Israeli warmaking in Monday's televised debate with top AIPAC target in the country, Congressman Jamaal Bowman. You might want to watch it yourself on Youtube, as the media coverage leaves much to be desired, and the initial section on Gaza is just 14 mins.

Media outlets are characterizng the June 25th Democratic primary in New York's 16th district as a national Democratic referendum on Gaza. Maybe they mean "international," considering that AIPAC's agenda is that of the rightwing Israeli government -- and maybe they mean "bipartisan," considering that AIPAC's money flooding into Democratic primaries comes heavily from Republicans.

Latimer had no criticism for the genocide underway in Gaza, but did for the students protesting it. He also denounced Congressman Bowman for having voted No on a repressive bill that, in the words of the ACLU, "would allow the government to investigate, harass, and effectively dismantle any nonprofit organization – like public colleges and universities – it claims has provided 'material support' to terrorist groups, without due process."

If you'd like Rep. Bowman to stay in Congress, don't let AIPAC's failure to oust Summer Lee make you complacent. Latimer is leading in funding and polling. Chip in here to Bowman's campaign and RootsAction's work.

The rest of Monday's debate was telling. Bowman spoke for healthcare, Latimer for policing. Bowman spoke for a legal humane system for refugees, Latimer for a bipartisan increase to "border security." The choice between these two candidates is not only between a peace advocate and a hired war supporter, but also between a supporter of major government investment in health, housing, environment, and the general welfare, and an opponent of such policies with a record of dutifully serving those wealthy interests funding his campaign.

Can you help us shut down AIPAC's effort to subvert an election by chipping in to support Congressman Bowman now?

Bowman has "all the right people" out to get him. But does that prove he's doing something good in Congress? Not necessarily. But he is doing good. In fact, Bowman is a leader for peace, education, racial justice, workers' rights, environmental protection, and healthcare.

Here are resolutions recently introduced in the House by Jamaal Bowman (you can read any of them at congress.gov):
