Congressman Jamaal Bowman was just defeated in the most expensive House primary in history by a challenger funded by AIPAC. Congresswoman Cori Bush is next in AIPAC's sights. Politico recently confirmed that AIPAC’s super PAC, United Democracy Project, is the largest source of GOP donations in Democratic primaries. And the majority of its donors are corporate, right-wing millionaires and billionaires who support Donald Trump. And where is the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee? It blacklisted any company that worked for a challenger to an incumbent Democrat when progressive challengers were winning. Now it's dropped that policy, abandoned progressive incumbents, and -- in fact -- four former executive directors of the DCCC work for firms that are being paid to defeat House Democrats in primary races. The American Prospect recently reported that Lucinda Guinn, who was the Executive Director of the DCCC in 2019 and 2020, when the blacklist became official policy, is now a partner, along with John Lapp, another former DCCC executive director, in a consulting firm called Ralston Lapp Guinn, which worked for George Latimer, the challenger to Bowman. RootsAction's Norman Solomon reported: "Although usually eager to defend Democratic incumbents facing strong primary challenges, this time the party’s leadership offered winks and nods to Bowman’s AIPAC-funded opponent, George Latimer. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries went through only perfunctory motions of supporting Bowman. Another fellow Democrat, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, was in the groove when she declared on Sunday: “I am not weighing in on primaries intentionally. But what I'm very focused on is number one, I stand strongly with Israel.” Click here to tell the DCCC to start standing strongly with the Democratic Party instead of Republican-funded AIPAC candidates. |
