Nationwide media coverage began quickly last week after the Don’t Run Joe campaign launched a 60-second spot on television across New Hampshire, featuring appearances by several Democratic voters.

  • “Our ideas are way more popular than Joe Biden is,” progressive state legislator Ellen Read says.
  • Another speaker declares that “Joe Biden representing the status quo in 2024 simply won't cut it.”
  • A third voter warns that “we can't afford to risk the White House for a Republican who could defeat status-quo Joe.”

New polls by CNBC and CNN show that well over half of Democrats don’t want Biden to be the nominee in 2024. Biden should heed the voters of his party rather than simply declaring “watch me” run for re-election.

We need a president willing to boldly confront grim realities such as corporate price-gouging, extreme income inequality, the climate emergency, voter suppression, and a bloated military budget that soaks up roughly half of all federal discretionary spending.

Last Sunday -- under the headline “As Biden Mulls His Future, a Progressive Group Is Urging ‘Don’t Run Joe’” -- the San Francisco Chronicle published an extensive news article that ended with a quote from RootsAction national director Norman Solomon: “Biden is a roadblock right now. And our first task is to get the roadblock out of the way. After that happens, then a lot of possibilities open up.”

We hope you’ll take a look at the Don’t Run Joe video ad here.

Thank you!
