Dear RootsAction supporter,

We’re pleased to forward along to you this important message from Taxpayers Against Genocide (TAG), a pathbreaking group that has energized activists nationwide with its lawsuit against members of Congress who’ve voted for billions of dollars’ worth of weapons to Israel while the mass murder in Gaza continues. RootsAction is pleased to be hosting the Taxpayers Against Genocide webinar on January 25. You’re invited to register for that free online event to learn how to join with others in your area to file such a lawsuit against your representative and/or senator(s) who have been voting to arm the genocide.

Thank you!

Taxpayers Against Genocide Class Action Webinar: Saturday, January 25

We're excited to invite you for the TAG Class Action Webinar 1-25-25.

Click here to register.

This 75-minute informational webinar will start at: 10am Pacific, 11am Mountain, 1pm Eastern. It is being hosted by TAG and will feature presentations by key TAG organizers who will provide information on how they organized and launched the class action against their Congresspersons for illegally using our tax dollars to fund the genocide in Gaza. This class action is sweeping across Northern California and into the greater Bay Area.

An Unprecedented Lawsuit:

On December 19, 2024, more than 500 federal taxpayers across 10 Northern California counties, represented by Szeto-Wong Law, filed a class action lawsuit against their Congressional Representatives Jared Huffman and Mike Thompson. More than 30 organizations, including RootsAction, have endorsed the class action.

The lawsuit charges that Rep. Huffman and Rep. Thompson illegally abused their Tax and Spend authority when they voted to allocate $26.38 billion in military aid to Israel on April 20, 2024. They did this in the face of overwhelming evidence of genocide in Gaza and overwhelming opposition by their own constituents. By doing so, the lawsuit alleges, they violated the U.S. Constitution, the United Nations’ Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of Genocide, and U.S. federal laws such as the Leahy Law. The full legal complaint is posted here. To see the video footage of the press conference, click here. The Lawsuit Expands:

Since the Dec. 19th press conference, the NorCal class membership has grown to approximately 900 people and continues to grow daily. The Northern California TAG class action lawsuit is moving forward while it simultaneously expands to name additional defendants in more congressional districts located in the United States District Court, Northern District of California, including in the greater Bay Area.

Just the Beginning:

Along with providing information and answering your questions, this webinar is the beginning of a nationwide network supporting taxpayers’ efforts to hold our elected officials accountable for illegal votes that make us complicit in genocide.
