Dear Friend, As you know, we aren’t happy with the Democratic Party, especially its failure to defeat Trumpism. Many of the shortcomings of the party’s corporatist wing start with the Democratic National Committee, the DNC. The DNC is a hugely powerful body that operates with almost no oversight from average voters or even Democratic rank-and-file activists. You may not be aware that a very consequential election is coming up: On February 1st, the DNC will elect new leadership at its winter meeting. The DNC has a long history of locking progressives out of the Democratic Party. But if progressives can get a toehold in DNC leadership, it could be the first step in building a party that actually champions progressive policies that are popular with voters. That’s why we’re writing to tell you that we’re supporting JAMES ZOGBY for vice chair of the DNC. Jim Zogby has long been a relentless advocate for progressive causes within the Democratic Party, even when those positions have put him at odds with party leadership. We have worked with him for decades and know that he’s a rare voice within the party who doesn’t care what the corporatist class and consultants think. Most recently, Jim was one of the loudest voices within the party decrying its support for Israel’s onslaught against civilians in Gaza. A list of DNC members (which the committee has tried to keep private) recently leaked. We’re encouraging you, as a RootsAction supporter, to take a look at this list and see if you recognize any of the names in your state. If you do, you might want to contact that person and encourage them to support Jim Zogby for vice chair. If you don’t recognize any names, you can still write to your state party and tell them about your support for Jim. Solidarity,
