Dear RootsAction Friend, With only a couple of weeks before the new year, I am reaching out to invite you to participate in Defuse Nuclear War’s January 8-14 Week of Action, Gaza and Beyond: No to Genocide and Nuclear War. Activists are standing in opposition to the ongoing war in Gaza and demanding an immediate ceasefire, ending the genocide of Palestinians, and advocating against blank checks for the Israeli military, while also drawing attention to the possibility of longer-term conflict and nuclear proliferation in the Middle East. Activists have organized nonviolent protests, public education outreach, banner drops, phone and text banking, leafleting, in-person petition signature gathering, meetings with elected officials, op-ed writing, and other creative initiatives. It’s not too late to take part and add your voice! If you’d like to organize an event, we invite you to complete a short questionnaire to tell us a little bit about the event you’re planning so we can provide tools and support. Possible event ideas include nonviolent protests, public education outreach, banner drops, phone and text banking, leafleting, in-person petition signature gathering, meetings with elected officials, op-ed writing, and other creative initiatives. We’ll also be hosting a prep session on December 20th at 5pm PT/8pm ET for anyone who might want some help organizing their event.
