For years now, the U.S. government has illegally kept military troops in Syria and absurdly claimed that its attacks on targets in Syria are "defensive" of those troops. If Syria had taken over part of Texas and started claiming that its attacks on targets in the United States were "defensive" of its troops in Texas (and "proportional") and therefore legal, legitimate, and moral, what would you say? For a year-and-a-half now, President Joe Biden has claimed that the U.S. is not at war. Earlier this month, the U.S. House of Representatives voted down a resolution to end U.S. warmaking in Syria. One of the many arguments made for the No votes was that there was no war to end. Yet, this week, following a report of U.S. casualties (one dead, six injured), the U.S. repeatedly bombed Syria, claiming that it was attacking Iranian or Iranian-backed locations, thus fueling the potential for yet another war. Click here to insist that your Representative and Senators immediately use the War Powers Resolution to create a new vote on ending U.S. warmaking in Syria. |
