Democrats, who should be acting as the opposition party, seem paralyzed by indecision over how to fight back against Trump and Musk. After weeks of wavering, some in the party are finally focusing on Musk’s unconstitutional and illegal attacks on government agencies.

It will take so much more to effectively combat Trump’s neofascist administration. The Democrats should begin to mount earnest opposition to Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s most destructive tactics.

As a constituent, I urge you to oppose Elon Musk’s illegal assault on the U.S. federal government. Musk is an unelected, private citizen who has not been nominated or confirmed by Congress to oversee any government agencies. He has no place in the U.S. government and should be removed from any acting role as quickly as possible. Acts of Congress created important federal agencies and departments – and only Congress has the power to abolish them.

We thank current members of Congress who have called for Musk to be subpoenaed by Congress or called for his ouster. More action is needed, and urgently. Musk and his cronies are operating in an environment with no oversight and broad access to myriad databases and systems that include confidential information about millions of U.S. citizens.

You must not sit idly by and allow the dismantling of systems that keep Americans fed, housed, cared for, and employed. We must stand up to Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and the billionaire robber barons who want to gut our federal government.
