Dear Friend, "Like Barack Obama before him, Joe Biden promised some much-needed changes in nuclear policies during his successful quest to win the White House, but once in office — as with Obama’s pledges — those encouraging vows turned out to be so much smoke." Thus writes Norman Solomon in this article: There must be some areas in which Biden is doing well. We just can't remember what they are. Climate change? No, not that. Immigration and borders? Nope. Rewarding whistleblowers? Um, not so much. Oh, winning over young people? Hardly. What has young people so troubled about Biden is something you'd think would bother older people even more: the arming and prolonging and promoting of murderous wars. In some places it seems that people of all ages have had enough: But the White House seems to be in denial about the need for any policy changes for moral, legal, or electoral reasons. Public relations changes seem to be the only steps even considered. When your wars are causing endless problems that are spinning out of control, the solution may be painfully obvious. That doesn't mean President Biden will try it. If the U.S. government does not change course, those within it who have long pushed for a war on Iran may get their wish, and we may all be very sorry. |
