RootsAction has been busier than ever. Our social media coordinator Ricci Sergienko -- as you know if you follow RootsAction on Twitter or Facebook -- has been in Atlanta participating and reporting on the growing campaign to prevent the construction of the Cop City training center for militarized police. You can help by signing and sharing this petition.  Our digital coordinator Bill Lackemacher has been protesting at the California Democratic convention to demand a ceasefire in Gaza, where the Israeli and U.S. governments seem to believe they are the cops of the world. (The Israeli military also trains police in Georgia, where the Cop City project will hopefully be stopped by activism).  Our policy director Jeff Cohen is seen in the center of the photo below bringing a similar message to the district office of Rep. Pat Ryan in Kingston, NY. Ryan was one of 22 House Democrats who joined Republicans in censuring Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib for seeking peace in Gaza. (Meanwhile we're raising funds for Rep. Tlaib and Rep. Cori Bush.)  Our campaign coordinator David Swanson, below, has just spoken at events in Massachusetts, Ohio, Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin.  We need to keep emailing our Congress Members to get a lasting ceasefire in Gaza, and urging nations to invoke the Genocide Convention at the International Court of Justice. Our partnerships coordinator Hanieh Jodat Barnes has been planning an upcoming online teach-in that includes as one of the speakers our specialist on nuclear issues Emma Claire Foley. Join us on November 29:  We've also been trying to prevent the prosecution of a peace activist in Ukraine for the crime of supporting peace, and pressing the U.S. government to switch to diplomacy in the endless Ukraine war. |
