Dear Friend, In all the horrific Trump-related news, you might not have heard that something big is happening inside the Democratic Party, too. In just over a week, on February 1st, the Democratic National Committee, the DNC, will elect new officers to lead the party. At RootsAction, we’ve long opposed the corporatist, establishment wing of the party and its army of consultants who keep the Democratic Party from adopting more progressive policies – and keep losing winnable elections to the extreme Right. That this group has lost to Donald Trump not once, but twice, should be enough to convince anyone that we need a change in party leadership, and as soon as possible. That’s why we’re asking you to reach out to DNC members and tell them we need new leadership and a new, more progressive direction for the party. Here’s how you can contact the DNC: first, a list of DNC members (which the committee has tried to keep private) recently leaked. We encourage you to take a look at this list and if you recognize any of the names in your state, we hope you’ll consider contacting those people and telling them that it’s time to kick the corporatists to the curb and vote for a different kind of leadership in the DNC. If you don’t recognize any names on that list, you can still write to your state party and tell them that you expect a dramatic change in course for the Democratic Party. There is too much at stake now for the party to continue with business-as-usual. To stop the tide of Trumpism, we need a different Democratic Party leadership.
