Dear Friend, As top Democrats struggle to move forward while avoiding learning much from their failures, it's important that we widely share some key lessons. First, if Democratic candidates were believably in favor of positive change, journalists wouldn't have to wonder why voters pass ballot measures for abortion rights, marijuana rights, and higher wages, but also vote for Republican clowns who openly oppose those things: Second, the lesson is not to move even further to the right. And it goes deeper than finding the proper balance between television ads and spamming people's phones. Here's the right lesson: You have to stop taking direction from the very people the public desperately wants you to tax out of existence: Third, all kinds of good people are showing the way ahead:  Fourth, even as war spreads like a disease, some are pointing the way out. Senator Bernie Sanders on one side of the U.S. Capitol and Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib on the other have publicly urged their colleagues to vote No on another nearly trillion dollars in military spending.  |
