An unwinnable endless war between nuclear governments does end, but it ends all of us with it.

A year ago this week, the war in Ukraine was horrifically escalated by the Russian invasion. Ever since, both sides have predicted victory, with no evidence or credibility.

The war drags on. The bodies pile up. The other emergencies -- the ones we didn't have a choice about -- are neglected.

War without end has come to seem normal over the past 20 years, but this time the opposing sides both have nuclear weapons. We're risking everything for a dispute that the U.S. government helped create and has worked to prolong and exacerbate. Our luck will not hold out forever.

The Defuse Nuclear War coalition is organizing events across the country on Feb 24 — the one year anniversary of Russia invading Ukraine. Demonstrations, rallies, and pickets are being organized to call on the United States to LEAD WITH DIPLOMACY instead of escalation. Thus far, events have been planned in California (Chico, Los Angeles, Salinas, San Jose); Massachusetts (Boston, East Falmouth, Northampton, Springfield); Missouri (St. Louis); New Jersey (Montclair); New York (Albany, Geneseo, New York City, Uniondale); Pennsylvania (Philadelphia, at the Liberty Bell); Washington (Bellingham, Shelton, Spokane); Wisconsin (Madison, Milwaukee). More events are being steadily confirmed. Sign up to organize in your local area or let an organizer know you want to attend an event near you.
